Been super busy with a lot of stuff but I finally managed to make some holiday cards last Friday night.
Late Friday afternoon, no patient. I was in the clinic trying to make some card designs for me and the boyf's joint Christmas card.
First design: Minimalist snowflake/parol design. Hmm. Okay.
Second design: A pattern of repeating snowflakes with a greeting smack dab in the middle. Nice. But I didn't think it looked anything like "us."
Third and final design: During the last ten minutes of the work day I scoured my collection of downloaded retro wingdings and boink! I finally put together a coffee-inspired design, since we both love to drink cups and cups of the stuff. On the way home, I had the design photocopied. At home, I cut out board paper for the cards and gocco'd to death.
As Mother Ricky Reyes would say, eto na ang ating finished product (Nina, you gets this diba kasi alam mo yung show ni Ricky Reyes diba? Hehehe):
Font is "Font Diner." I like how it already looks both retro and festive. For the image, I think it's "Retrobats." You can downloaded it free online. The first few cards I made is on light blue paper I cut myself. The later prints are on the "tropical green" pre cut and folded blank cards. You can see where the brown starts to fade a bit in the girl's hair. But that's the charm of gocco.
Oliver said he liked it but it reminded him of the signage for Savory Chicken. But oh well! Hee.
